Pregnant woman with extremely rare blood type saves 81-year-old patient
(Baonghean.vn)- Upon receiving the news that an 81-year-old woman with extremely rare blood was in critical condition and needed an urgent blood transfusion, Ms. Bien Thuy, despite having a small child to take care of, still rode her motorbike to the hospital to save her.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bien Thuy, residing in Hung Chinh commune, Hung Nguyen district, is one of the very few people with an extremely rare blood type (Rh-B). Less than 3 months ago, she gave birth and is at home taking care of the baby.
On January 16, while holding her baby, she received a phone call from an officer at the Nghe An Province Blood Transfusion Center, informing her that 81-year-old Mrs. Duong Thi Hung was in critical condition due to Rh-B anemia.
Without hesitation, she immediately sent her child and traveled a long distance to the hospital to donate blood to save lives.
It is known that Mrs. Duong Thi Hung was admitted to the hospital in critical condition and was ordered to have her uterus completely removed. After the surgery, the patient was severely anemic and urgently needed 1000ml of blood. According to specialist doctor Hoang Anh: "If more than 10 hours after being ordered, the patient does not receive a blood transfusion, he or she will die."

PreviouslyThuy had once participated in voluntary blood donation and coincidentally learned that she had a rare blood type (Rh-B), so the staff of the Hematology Blood Transfusion Center saved her address and phone number for contact. |
Patient Duong Thi Hung has blood type (Rh-B), which is extremely rare, with a ratio of 4/1000 (meaning only 4 out of 1000 people have this blood type). Thanks to the timely blood transfusion from Thuy and a nurse at the hospital, by January 18, the patient was awake and her health had gradually stabilized.

After donating blood to save the old woman's life, Ms. Bien Thuy was very happy. She confided: "I don't know who the person in critical condition is, I just think that without my blood they could die. Therefore, even though I am raising a small child, even though I just had a cesarean section and lost a lot of blood, I am still determined to donate blood."
