At 3:30 a.m. on September 5, when train SE6 arrived at the Kim Lien - Hai Van Nam section, the employee in charge of car 6, Ta Thi Dan, noticed that pregnant woman Nguyen Thi Anh (from Thanh Chuong, Nghe An) in bed 38 was showing signs of labor, so she informed the train captain.
Because the passenger went into labor at night while the train was on the pass and could not wait to be taken to Hue station, the staff prepared medical supplies, warm water... to assist the passenger in giving birth. Staff member Ta Thi Dan was the one who directly delivered the baby.
After receiving assistance, the pregnant woman, Anh, gave birth to a 3kg baby girl, "mother and child safe and sound", to the joy of her family and the working group on the ship. Ms. Anh said she and her brother-in-law were returning from Bien Hoa to their hometown in Nghe An to wait for the birth.
After safely delivering the baby, the train crew informed the Hue station on duty to prepare for emergency treatment at the station. Ms. Anh and her baby were taken to the hospital in Hue as soon as the train arrived at the station.
Train SE6 departed Saigon station on the morning of September 4, led by train captain Nguyen Van Duc and Hanoi railway attendants.
