The Ministry of Health's morning news on May 24 said there were 58 more COVID-19 cases, including 2 imported cases that were quarantined immediately.

The remaining 56 cases were recorded domestically in 6 provinces and cities including Bac Giang (33), Hanoi (8), Bac Ninh (7), Lang Son (5), Dien Bien (2), Hai Duong (1). As of 6:00 a.m. on May 24, Vietnam had a total of 3,790 cases recorded domestically and 1,485 imported cases. The number of new cases from April 27 to now: 2,220 cases.
There are 6 provinces (Yen Bai, Quang Ngai, Dong Nai, Nghe An, Quang Ninh, Quang Nam) that have gone 14 days without recording any new cases.

In a related development, Chairman of Hai Duong City People's Committee - Mr. Tran Ho Dang has just announced the suspension of Major PMH, working at the Lien Hong Commune Kindergarten Quarantine Area, for being negligent and irresponsible in epidemic prevention.

At the same time, Major H. was criticized for being negligent, irresponsible, and not reporting to promptly remedy and handle the situation of lack of domestic water, causing unsanitary conditions, posing a potential risk of spreading disease and affecting the lives of people in the quarantine area.

Mr. Dang assigned the Hai Duong City Military Command to review responsibilities and report to the Provincial Military Command to consider how to handle Major H. At the same time, review and draw common experiences for the City Military Command's forces in performing the task of preventing and fighting Covid-19.

Previously, from the early morning of May 21, the Lien Hong Kindergarten quarantine area experienced a shortage of domestic water. This situation was reported early, but the management board of the concentrated quarantine area, directly led by Major H., did not report it for timely handling. By late afternoon of the same day, the shortage of domestic water in the quarantine area was resolved. Lien Hong Kindergarten currently has over 100 people under centralized medical quarantine.
