Young man sentenced to 20 years in prison for going to China to buy drugs to sell

(Baonghean.vn) - Defendant Nguyen Dac Hoang (born in 1984, from Cam Nhuong commune, Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh province) has just been sentenced to 20 years in prison by the People's Court of Nghe An province for the crime of "illegally buying and selling drugs".

According to the indictment, on May 18, 2017, a man named Hung from Quang Ngai called Nguyen Dac Hoang and said: "Get me Chinese crystal meth to sell, I will buy it for 320 million VND/kg." Hoang agreed.

On May 22, 2017, Hoang took 60 million VND to Guangdong province, China, borrowed another 50 million VND, and together with a man named Tuan (from Hai Duong province) went to Jiangxi province, China to buy 0.5 kg of crystal meth for 110 million VND. Hoang put the crystal meth in 3 white milk cartons with many Chinese characters on the outside and then took a small route to Vietnam.

On the morning of May 28, 2017, Hoang returned home and called Hung to say: "I bought 0.5 kg of crystal meth, selling price 160 million VND." Hung agreed and arranged to deliver the goods to room 306, Asia Hotel, Phan Boi Chau Street, Vinh City.

At around 1:00 p.m. on May 29, 2017, Hoang took three white milk cartons containing crystal meth, put them in a black backpack, carried them with him, and took a taxi to the meeting place. When he arrived at the room, Hoang opened the backpack and took out the goods for Hung to see. At that moment, the Anti-Drug Crime Task Force No. 2, the Coast Guard, in coordination with the Le Loi Ward Police, discovered and caught him red-handed. The man named Hung escaped.

According to the investigation conclusion, the white crystalline particles that Hoang carried were synthetic drugs with a total weight of 327.73 grams.

In court, Nguyen Dac Hoang confessed honestly. Considering that the defendant was repentant and that his family had contributed to the revolution and was worshipping martyrs, the panel of judges considered this a mitigating circumstance and sentenced Nguyen Dac Hoang to 20 years in prison.

Previously, on January 25, 2011, Nguyen Dac Hoang was sentenced to 1 year in prison by the People's Court of Vung Tau city for the crime of "fraudulent appropriation of property".
