Missile officer demoted for playing games

An officer in the Chinese military's Strategic Rocket Force was demoted after missing an important phone call from his superior while playing a game in the toilet.

When the commander found Liu Bin (the officer's name), he was still playing games in the toilet, reported 81.cn - the official website of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

Liu was later demoted to assistant engineer and transferred to another company. 81.cn did not specify what Liu's previous duties were in the rocket force.

However, the website said Liu's case has sparked debate among officials within the PLA about whether soldiers should be allowed to play games.

In particular, an air force training officer encouraged soldiers to play games together in their free time to reduce stress and build team spirit.
