Russia's super tank T-14 Armata has begun testing on the firing range and shown off its very special features.

According to Sputnik News, the T-14 Armata first appeared at Russia's Victory Day parade on Red Square in 2015. At that time, the T-14 Armata was advertised as "opening a new chapter for the tank manufacturing industry".

Accordingly, thanks to its stealth technology, the T-14 Armata completely “disappears” from infrared waves and many other spectra. In addition, the T-14 Armata is also equipped with an active electronic scanning system (APAR) similar to that on the 5th generation super fighter T-50 PAK FA. The radars and cameras on the T-14 Armata are not only used for combat purposes but also for reconnaissance missions.

The T-14 Armata super tank's armament includes a 125mm cannon and a 7.62mm remote-controlled machine gun. In the near future, the T-14 Armata super tank will be upgraded to become a heavy self-propelled gun with a 152mm cannon.

Another important feature of the T-14 Armata super tank is the unmanned turret. The three tank crew members will sit in an armored cockpit at the front of the vehicle, completely separate from the turret. This will help increase the survival rate of the crew in case the tank is attacked.

With such a design, APAR system and active defense weapons, T-14 Armata becomes a tank capable of intercepting any anti-tank weapon today. This makes T-14 Armata "invincible" on the battlefield.

The technologies applied to the T-14 Armata will also be used for the T-15—a heavy infantry fighting vehicle that is expected to be upgraded into an unmanned combat vehicle soon.

In addition, Russia will also develop a tank support combat vehicle called Terminator-3 and upgrade the Koalitsiya-SV self-propelled gun based on the chassis of the T-14 Armata super tank.

Although India, China, Egypt and many other countries are keen to acquire the T-14 Armata, Russian defense industry corporations will prioritize supplying the Russian military first.

It is expected that 100 T-14 Armata tanks will join the Russian armored force in 2017 and by 2025 the Russian army will possess a total of 2,500 T-14 Armata tanks./.
