Chung, a student of the Food Technology Department at Vinh University, said: “We sell in groups, all of us are friends in the department. This is the first year we try to do business, so it is still strange and difficult, but everyone is interested and excited about this. We have extra income and gain life experience.”

Flower prices range from about 100,000 to 200,000 VND for a bouquet or basket. Depending on customer requirements, they can be higher, about 500,000 to 600,000 VND for a bouquet or basket.

Mr. Luc - Head of the Green Journey Nghe An organization, shared: “We are a volunteer organization, selling flowers to raise funds for upcoming charity programs to raise funds for the poor. The main force is still students from universities in Vinh city. In addition, there are also high school students who are currently members of the organization. We sell at quite affordable prices, only fluctuating between 100k - 200k because the main target is still students”.

The students added that in addition to students, many passersby also come to buy. “Because we are students, we can grasp new and beautiful flower designs that suit our tastes. The prices are quite affordable, not too expensive like in shops, so our customers are very diverse, not just students. In addition to selling flowers directly at the location, we also accept orders and ship flowers upon request, so the results are very good,” said Ha Trang, a flower seller at Nghe An Pedagogical College.

This year's flower market is not limited to fresh flowers but handmade paper flowers are also very popular. Linh Dan, a student at Nghe An University of Economics, said: "Most of my customers, after consulting, understand that fresh flowers fade quickly, do not last long and are quite expensive on holidays, so they choose paper flowers. They last forever, add a little perfume for a fragrant scent, and give them with a teddy bear for a more luxurious and meaningful gift than fresh flowers."

Dan added: “Making paper flowers is much harder than making fresh flowers. It requires cutting steel and paper, requiring meticulousness and also having to wrap them in a “quality” way. Customers who want flowers on the right day have to order in advance, they can’t buy them immediately like fresh flowers, so on each holiday I can only make about 15-20 bouquets.”

Like Dan, Thanh Phuong - a student of K55 Vinh University, shared: “My friend and I have been making paper flowers for 2 years now. Because paper flowers are cheap, unique and last a long time, customers are very supportive. The price of each bunch is from 60k - 400k, depending on the number of customers ordering. During the selling process, we also encountered many difficulties, especially the time issue. Sometimes customers rush, but paper flowers require great care, take a long time to make and are time-consuming. Therefore, on holidays, when there are many orders, sometimes I have to stay up all night to make flowers on time.”

Despite many difficulties, the October 20th holiday falls in the middle of the week, but students have cleverly arranged their study schedule so that business does not affect their studies.
