Nghe An students participate in the program 'Students with the sea and islands of the Fatherland'
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An has 18 students honored to participate in the program "Students with the sea and islands of the Fatherland" taking place from June 3, 2016 to June 5, 2016 at Co To Island, Quang Ninh province.

The program “Students with the sea and islands of the Fatherland” is organized annually by the Center for Support and Development of Vietnamese Students, starting from 2013 on the country's outpost islands, with the aim of arousing love for the sea, islands, homeland, country and educating patriotism of Vietnamese students.
In 2016, the program “Students with the sea and islands of the Fatherland” with the theme “Proud of Vietnam’s sea and islands” brought 600 excellent students from 26 Vietnamese student associations of provinces and cities; Vietnamese Student Association abroad; Hue University and schools under the Central Government; priority was given to Union and Association officials who were students, students who won the “January Star” Award, the title “5 Good Students” to the island with many meaningful activities.

Activities in the program include: education and propaganda about the Law of the Sea, historical and legal evidence of Vietnam's sea and islands, the 1982 International Convention on the Law of the Sea; the Code of Conduct of the Parties in the East Sea (COC); the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC); policies and solutions for management and protection of seas and islands of the Party and State; introducing the beauty and development potential of Vietnam's seas and islands; achievements in developing the marine and island economy, new factors, typical advanced models in developing the marine economy; presenting flags to fishermen on Co To island; a contest to design a tourism logo for Co To island district; presenting the national flag on Tran island, etc.
In addition, there were activities to visit families of policy beneficiaries; give gifts, encourage relatives, families of officers and soldiers working on the island; give gifts and fishing tools to fishermen; award scholarships to fishermen's children; build playgrounds and support playground equipment for kindergartens on Co To island, cultural and artistic exchanges, skills training: art exchange programs with singers, students, soldiers and people on the island; organize skill games, collective games.
