Pedagogy student kills lover when he finds out she betrayed him
Hearing his girlfriend confess that she loved someone else, Vu became jealous, grabbed a scarf and strangled her and swung a hammer.
On October 31, Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Court opened the first instance trial of Trieu The Vu (24 years old, from Ha Giang) for the crime ofKilling,according to Article 123 of the Penal Code 2015.
According to the indictment, while a student at Thai Nguyen University of Education, Vu fell in love with his schoolmate Truong Thi Ngoc Diem (21 years old). At around 11am on March 6, at Vu's rented room in Quang Trung Ward (Thai Nguyen City), Diem confessed that she was in love with someone else.
Feeling betrayed, Vu took a scarf and strangled Diem. Pushing her to the floor, Vu swung a hammer...

Terrified to see his lover lying in a pool of blood, Vu wrote a suicide note in which he confessed his crime and apologized to his parents. He used a scarf to hang himself but failed, so he turned himself in to the police. Diem was taken to the emergency room but died.
Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Court sentenced Vu to life in prison and ordered him to pay more than 170 million VND in compensation to the victim's family.
