Sir Alex leads MU again in summer 2017

Legendary coach Alex Ferguson will lead the 2008 MU team in a testimonial match for midfielder Michael Carrick next June.

In an interview with MUTV, Sir Alex Ferguson shared: “I don’t miss the management job anymore. I only have memories of the big matches. I don’t have to worry about players, agents, press conferences and having to control the press secretary.”

The legendary Scottish coach retired in the summer of 2013, but he will return to lead MU once again in honor of midfielder Michael Carrick.

“I am very happy that Michael Carrick has a testimonial match. It helps the fans know that MU is probably the only team that organizes this. Players tend to stick with the club longer,” Sir Alex Ferguson commented.

The Scottish strategist spent 26 years leading the Old Trafford club. He helped the "Red Devils" win a total of 38 titles, including 13 Premier League titles and 2 Champions League cups.

The match to pay tribute to veteran midfielder Michael Carrick will feature many players who were members of the MU squad that won the Champions League in the 2007/08 season. Notably, retired stars such as Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes will also play.

The 2008 MU team will face an all-star team led by coach Harry Redknapp, the coach who created the conditions for Michael Carrick to show his talent at West Ham. The match between the 2008 MU team and their opponents will take place at Old Trafford on June 4.
