SLNA shares points with rookie Viettel at Hang Day Stadium
(Baonghean.vn) - Traveling to Hang Day Stadium to play away against Viettel, SLNA continued to have a lackluster match when they only got 1 point against the rookie team and could not narrow the gap with the top team Hanoi after the early matches of round 8 of V.League.
Along with the return of Alves dos Santos to the attack, coach Duc Thang has included the secret player from the previous rounds, Vo Ngoc Toan, in the starting lineup for the away match against rookie Viettel.
Entering the match, SLNA quickly launched an offensive strategy and in the first seconds had a chance to open the score, but Vo Ngoc Toan did not have the best feeling to launch a close-range shot.
After the initial attack failed, Coach Duc Thang's players took the initiative to retreat deep to give the home team the upper hand and deployed their familiar defensive counter-attacking style of play. It was not until the 38th minute of the match that the first clear scoring opportunity came to the yellow team. From the right wing, Dinh Hoang skillfully handled the ball past two Viettel players before putting the ball into the penalty area, however, in an extremely favorable position, Alves dos Santos could not defeat goalkeeper Quang The Tai at close range.
A few minutes later, Dinh Hoang continued with a cross into the penalty area, the ball lightly touched Olaha's head before falling into the control of Alves dos Santos. At a tight angle, striker number 19 stopped the ball with his chest before unleashing a powerful shot but once again, the goal still did not come to SLNA as the ball just glided across the goal towards the sideline.
The two teams entered the break with the game balanced, but one positive point was that striker Alves dos Santos, after two matches sitting out due to suspension, returned with greater determination, moving more and playing more actively.
In the second half, SLNA continued to play with a deep formation, giving up the game and actively defending. Viettel's long ball play into the opponent's area could not trouble Memovic and Van Khanh along with the careful coverage of the "satellites". However, in the first 25 minutes of the second half, SLNA could not have satisfactory counter-attacks when the speed of the forward players was not enough to surprise Viettel's defense.
At this point, coach Duc Thang decided to send Xuan Thang and The Cuong onto the field to replace Ngoc Toan and Alves dos Santos and urged his players to attack. However, the Nghe An team's attacking tactics were not really clear, so even though they regained control of the game, they could not create dangerous opportunities towards goalkeeper Quang The Tai's goal.
The physical strength of some positions in the SLNA squad has shown signs of decline while the home team with many young players with a higher desire to win has made the match quite tense. In the last 10 minutes of the match, gaps in the defense system of both teams appeared, but the strikers were not sharp enough to score.
