Nam Mo River - upstream of Lam River is dry, bare rocks and gravel
(Baonghean.vn) - The continuous heat wave in recent times has caused the upper Nam Mo River in Ky Son District (a branch of Lam River) to dry up, with only gravel remaining in some places on the riverbed. The risk of water shortage for summer-autumn production is alarming.

(Baonghean.vn) - Due to the dry weather, the water level of Vuc Mau Lake (in Hoang Mai town, Nghe An) has dropped, revealing part of the cracked lake bed and sand dunes.

Mr. Vi Van Tam in Pieng Cu village, Chieu Luu commune (Ky Son) said: For a long time, no matter how hot it was, Nam Mo was always full of water, but at the beginning of the hot season, the river bed was dry, people could stand in the middle of the river to cast nets to catch fish. Along the Nam Mo river, many boats that people used to cast nets every day now have to stay on the shore.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ky Son district said: Nam Mo river originates from Laos, due to the prolonged sunshine this year, little rain in Laos, causing the Nam Mo river to dry up. Currently, many communes along the Nam Mo river such as Chieu Luu, Huu Kiem, Ta Ca... lack water for livestock, daily life and aquaculture.

There are currently 3 small hydroelectric plants on the Nam Mo River. All 3 of these hydroelectric plants do not have dams.
