In particular, in the past two days, in the border communes of Tien Phong, My Ly, and Muong Xen, dozens of households have been living in fear as the mountain peaks near their homes have shown signs of cracking, leading to the risk of landslides at any time.

Facing the risk of house being buried

After the heavy rain on July 23, the slope of Pu Cay Cum mountain, located right above the Hua Muong residential area in Long Thang village, Tien Phong border commune, continued to slide and showed no signs of stopping. In particular, since the evening of July 24, many people have been worried when they discovered another fracture across the mountainside that is getting longer and wider.

The crack was discovered by local people and reported to the local authorities. Immediately, the Commune Police and My Ly Border Guard Station came to inspect and asked people to evacuate to a safe place.

Therefore, the authorities allowed people to return home to continue cleaning and repairing their houses after the flood.

Xang Tren village has 170 households, more than 700 people and the flood on the night of July 22nd caused 36 households to lose their houses. Currently, the life of the people in Xang Tren village as well as other villages of My Ly is extremely difficult and deprived.

The risk of the whole mountain collapsing is very high, especially when it rains, we feel even more insecure. Therefore, my family has prepared a plan to move to another place to stay, to avoid landslides” - Mr. Lo Khanh Khang, Hoa Son village said.
