In recent weeks, cases have been recorded concentrated in a number of provinces, especially in the four Central Highlands provinces of Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai, Kon Tum and a number of provinces in the Southern and Central regions such as An Giang, Dong Thap, Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh.

The reason for the increase in dengue cases, especially in the Central Highlands, is that it is the rainy season. At this time last year, the epidemic began to increase, reaching its peak in the last months of 2015, then gradually decreased and the epidemic tail continued into the first months of 2016.

The Ministry of Health analyzed that El Nino causes widespread drought, causing households to increase water storage in water containers, creating favorable conditions for mosquitoes to lay eggs. In addition, the Central Highlands region has not been a common dengue fever area in recent years, so the population's immunity to dengue fever is low, so when an epidemic appears, it will spread and break out quickly.
