Su-57 with 'Product 30': New King of the Skies

If successful in testing Su-57 with new generation engine “Product 30”, Russia's Su-57 will have no rivals in air combat.

This fall the first flight of the Russian fifth-generation fighter Su-57 with a new generation engine specially designed for this aircraft will take place.

This was announced by Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov to the Russian newspaper “In24”.

The 5th generation stealth fighter is preparing to test the new generation engine "Product 30" specifically for them.

According to him, this future aircraft has completed the testing stages and is preparing for mass production.

“As is known, the 5th generation fighter Su-57 will be equipped with its own new generation engine, allowing them to perform complex and tactical flight and maneuvers.

In addition, with this new engine, this aircraft also has the ability to maneuver complexly at supersonic speeds," Mr. Yuri Borisov told the Russian defense industry press service.

He added that the work related to the development of the new generation engine phase 1 seems to be completed. In the coming time, test flights and state-level inspections will be conducted.

If the test results are good, the manufacturer will proceed with further work and mass equip the Russian Su-57 5th generation fighter.

Previously, after announcing the renaming of the 5th generation fighter PAK FA T-50 to Su-57, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the production of a small number of this aircraft with the AL-41F1 engine.

This is an upgraded engine from the Su-27 fighter engine and is equipped on 4th and 4+ generation aircraft.

The new engine designed specifically for the Su-57 is called “Product 30”. The engine can increase the maximum thrust to 19.7 tons and save fuel. If successful and synchronized with the Su-57, this fighter will have no rivals in the battle for air superiority.

According to the previously announced plan, this type of fighter will be delivered to the Russian Aerospace Forces in 2018 and by 2019 will provide about 12 of this type.

The Su-57 is a fifth-generation multirole fighter aircraft developed by the Sukhoi Design and Test Bureau. Russia has built 10 prototypes of this aircraft, of which 3 prototypes are used for ground testing.

The special feature of the Su-57 is that the mass of composite materials in the 5th generation fighter accounts for 25% of the weight of the empty aircraft. At the same time, the details of the Su-57 will be 4 times less than the Su-27 aircraft.

According to some sources, this fighter jet is capable of shooting targets at a distance of up to 200 km, a distance that none of its competitors can achieve.

Previously, the British media was "stunned" by the weapons on the Su-57 and the stealth technology on this aircraft.

The Daily Star newspaper affirmed that the Su-57 fighter jet makes the air forces of other countries around the world want to own them.
