Why Europe cannot live without Russia?
Europe needs to step up cooperation with Russia, because without Russia it is impossible to solve a number of international problems, Deputy Speaker of the Bundestag, member of the German Social Democratic Party Thomas Opperman wrote in an article for the Frankfurter Allgemeine.

"We need a new joint initiative to implement the Minsk agreements to revive the peace process in Ukraine. Germany and the European Union, together with Russia, must work together to contain the Iranian threat to Israel and preserve the nuclear deal," said Thomas Opperman.
He also said that post-war reconstruction of Syria could only be achieved in cooperation with Russia and the European Union. Countries also needed to develop a Disarmament Initiative.
In addition, the German parliamentarian noted that a common economic space from Lisbon to Vladivostok could become a boost for Europe, which is especially important in the context of China's plans to build a new Silk Road.
