"Stealing" the key to a Lexus RX 350 before selling it, Tung tracked the buyer via GPS and then tried to steal the car.

On the evening of May 1, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh My (37 years old) drove a Lexus RX 350 with a Hanoi license plate to a coffee shop on Ho Xuan Huong Street (Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang). At 9:30 p.m., she left and could not find her car anywhere.

She just bought the car from someone in Ho Chi Minh City for 2 billion VND. The car has 2 keys, she keeps 1 key with her, the other is in the trunk.

A group of people living in a villa in an urban area in Hung Yen province were put under suspicion by Da Nang police due to information that they used a car to travel there. On May 10, the police raided the villa, temporarily detaining Le Van Tung (27 years old) and Vi Quang Vinh (24 years old, both residing in Phu Tho) and 4 others.

Tung said he knew the previous owner of the Lexus RX 350 wanted to sell the car, so in April he pretended to borrow the car to install a tracking device and make an extra key.

When the car was sold to Ms. My in Da Nang, Tung and Vinh tracked it via GPS and drove from Hanoi to here. At the coffee shop on May 1, Vinh directly used the "stolen" key to take the car. Going through the Hai Van tunnel, they changed the license plate and drove it to the urban area, taking it to change the paint color at a garage in Nam Dinh.

When the police seized the evidence, the Lexus RX 350 had been half repainted. Currently, the two suspects have been prosecuted and detained by Ngu Hanh Son District Police for theft of property.
