Detained suspect impersonating journalist, stabbing person at conference
On the afternoon of November 9, District 1 Police, Ho Chi Minh City announced that they were temporarily detaining Hoang Pham Manh Tung (46 years old, from Hanoi) to clarify the act of "Intentionally causing injury."
The victim of the incident, Mr. Nguyen Tan Quang (40 years old, living in District 10), is being treated at the hospital.
According to the initial investigation, at 6:30 p.m. on November 7, Mr. Tung and Mr. Quang attended an advertising event on the 10th floor of building 21 Nguyen Trung Ngan Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1.
During the event, Mr. Tung and Mr. Quang had a conflict and argued loudly with each other.
Suddenly, Mr. Tung pulled out a knife and stabbed Mr. Quang. Event participants took Mr. Quang to the hospital for emergency treatment. Mr. Tung is currently being held in criminal detention at District 1 Police Station.
Hoang Pham Manh Tung is said to specialize in impersonating journalists at events to get "envelopes."
Mr. Tung was once caught red-handed by the Internal Political Security Department - General Department of Security II in coordination with District 1 Police while attending a conference and was administratively punished.
After that, Mr. Tung did not appear for a while until causing the above incident.
The case is currently being investigated and clarified by District 1 Police./.
