The Egyptian Health Ministry said the death toll could rise. Egyptian security sources said about 10 masked gunmen attacked two buses carrying Christians and a pickup truck on the way to the Samuel monastery in Minya province. The gunmen stopped the vehicles and attacked them.

The attack took place near the Qalmoun Mountains in the western desert of Minya province, where the armed elements easily escaped. This was a targeted terrorist attack by terrorists targeting Christians. Egyptian security forces and police have blocked the area leading to the Samuel Monastery and the main roads of Minya province to hunt down the attackers.

Previously, the US Embassy in Cairo warned of possible terrorist attacks in Egypt and advised its citizens to be cautious and avoid crowded places.

Since 2011, Egypt has seen a number of terrorist attacks targeting religious groups, including Christians, Christians, and Christian churches. In April, two terrorist attacks on Christian churches in Tanta province and Alexandria city, Egypt, killed 47 people and injured more than 100.

The state of emergency is still in effect for three months after the two attacks and may be extended for another three months during the parliamentary elections. The attack continues to show that Egypt is facing security and terrorism challenges./.
