This spring crop, Tan Ky planted more than 8,300 hectares of rice, corn, peanuts, and various vegetables and beans, of which rice was more than 4,800 hectares. Newly planted more than 3,200 hectares of sugarcane, bringing the total sugarcane area in the district to 7,200 hectares and planted 460 hectares of forest. From the beginning of the crop, Tan Ky directed localities to adhere to the production schedule, proactively review areas that do not ensure irrigation water and based on the specific situation of each commune to convert the crop structure appropriately, choose to plant more drought-resistant varieties to minimize damage caused by drought.

In communes with large areas of alluvial land such as Nghia Dung, Nghia Dong, Ky Tan, Tan Long, Nghia Binh, mainly corn, peanuts and some sugarcane growing areas, due to lack of initiative in irrigation water sources, drought occurred last year, causing great damage to the area of color crops. To improve production efficiency, Tan Ky district has deployed drip irrigation technology for sugarcane in Nghia Dung, Tan An, Tan Long communes and orange trees in Nghia Phuc commune with a total area of over 23 hectares and converted about 500 hectares of corn and peanuts in the alluvial land to sugarcane growing.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Thuc - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tan Ky district added: "The district has arranged a reasonable production schedule, planted crops suitable for the area, and accelerated the progress of reinforcing and dredging canals in the fields. Currently, the district is focusing on directing people to overcome all difficulties to close the entire spring rice area. For the area of colored land, it is encouraged to convert the crop structure appropriately and focus on investing in intensive farming to increase crop productivity."
