Tan Ky: Increasing sugarcane productivity to 120 tons/ha
(Baonghean.vn) - Besides stabilizing nearly 7 thousand hectares of sugarcane, Tan Ky district also converted many areas of ineffective rice and color production land to intensive sugarcane cultivation, earning over 100 million VND/ha.

After 5 years of conversion, the total area of standing sugarcane increased from 4,754 ha in 2011 to 6,975 ha in 2015. The converted sugarcane area was 2,940 ha, of which the converted area for high productivity was 1,488 ha, increasing income from 82 to 108 million VND/ha.
In particular, from 2011 to 2015, Tan Ky district converted 850 hectares of land from ineffective rice and color growing land to sugarcane growing with a yield of 100-120 tons/ha. Particularly, Nghia Hoan commune and some areas of Nghia Dong commune converted from ineffective rice and corn growing land to sugarcane growing with a yield of 100-130 tons/ha, increasing the income value from sugarcane growing to 90-100 million VND/ha/year.

Currently, Tan Ky is selecting large sugarcane production areas in the communes of Nghia Dong, Tan Xuan, Giai Xuan, Tan Long, Ky Son with an area of 500 hectares, to build a sugarcane growing area applying high technology for an income value of 120 - 150 million VND/ha.
