(Baonghean.vn) - The plan for this school year is for Tan Ky district to strive for 17 re-standardized schools and 3 schools to meet national standards, in addition to focusing on building high-quality key schools according to the province's plan. However, in reality, schools are facing many difficulties and challenges, especially the inadequate school facilities.

Improve the quality of education

In recent years, Tan Ky district has paid special attention to improving the quality of education, in which the key is to buildnational standard schoolIn particular, the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee issued Resolution No. 03 - NQ/HU dated October 27, 2020 on promulgating the Project to build and improve the quality of national standard schools for the period 2021 - 2025 and the following years.

To improve the quality of teaching and learning, the Education and Training sector has identified important solutions, which are the organization of the team of managers, teachers, and staff and the enhancement of facilities and teaching equipment. Every year, the department coordinates with the Department of Internal Affairs to advise the District People's Committee to mobilize the team of managers, teachers, and staff to balance the team in the direction of prioritizing schools in the plan to build national standard schools.

Mr. Hoang Dinh Son added: "The sector has coordinated with the Department of Education and Training to send managers and teachers to participate in training in educational management skills; coordinated with the Provincial Center for Continuing Education to send primary school teachers and preschool teachers to participate in university-level training in primary/preschool education. Organized for cadres, teachers and staff to fully participate in training courses organized by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Department of Education and Training, especially training courses to implement the 2018 General Education Program for grades 1, 2 and 6. Organized district-level excellent teacher competitions for preschool and primary schools, from which teachers were sent to participate in the provincial excellent teacher competition. Therefore, the quality of teaching and learning at all levels from preschool to secondary school in the district has been significantly improved".

Regarding the work of strengthening facilities and teaching equipment, every year, localities and educational institutions have been active and proactive in mobilizing resources to build and repair classrooms, functional rooms, public service rooms, dormitories and many other items, supplement equipment and teaching aids; renovate, repair and upgrade toilets and clean water facilities in educational institutions... Ensuring the implementation of the 2018 general education program and meeting the criteria of national standard schools.

After 1 year of implementing the Project to build and improve the quality of national standard schools in the period of 2021 - 2025 and the following years, localities and units have mobilized over 53 billion VND to build, repair, and purchase educational facilities and equipment.
Since then, the quality of education in Tan Ky has been increasingly improved, especially the number of excellent students at all levels is among the top in the province. In the 2020-2021 school year, Tan Ky had 36 excellent students in grade 9 at the provincial level, including 2 first prizes, 11 second prizes, 15 third prizes (ranked 2nd in the province); 7 students won second prizes, 15 third prizes and 16 consolation prizes at the provincial 12th grade excellent student competition; 1 project won first prize and many students won high prizes in other competitions. Difficulties in building standard schools

In the 2021-2022 school year, Tan Ky district strives to have 17 re-standardized schools, 3 schools meeting national standards and focusing on building 1 high-quality key school Nguyen Trai Secondary School (Tan Ky town), according to the province's plan. By the end of 2021, Tan Ky strives to have 56/66 schools, 84.8% meeting national standards. However, looking at reality, many schools are facing difficulties and challenges. Typically, SchoolKindergartenKy Son commune strives to meet national standards in 2021, but so far the facilities are still lacking.

The school was established in 2005, currently has 3 campuses, 13 classes, with a total of 383 students. Although the quality of teaching has been significantly improved, the facilities are still lacking. In particular, at the main campus, there is a lack of functional rooms (office, vice principal's office, medical room, staff room, warehouse...); not to mention the satellite campuses (2 satellite campuses) still lack many items that have not been invested in construction.

“Recently, the Commune People's Committee has granted land to expand the main school campus, from 3,400m2up to 5,000 m2and has plans to invest in building functional rooms in the near future. In order for the school to meet national standards by the end of 2021, I hope that the local government will soon start construction so that the school can meet the standards as planned," Ms. Ngo Thi Thu Hien expressed.

Nguyen Trai Secondary School (Tan Ky town) is one of the schools selected by the province to build a high-quality key school in the period of 2019 - 2023. However, looking at reality, Nguyen Trai Secondary School still has many shortages in facilities and teaching equipment.

Taking us on a tour of the school, Principal Nguyen Cong Ha said: “Being selected by the province to build a high-quality key school is a source of pride and honor for the school, but the biggest concern is that the facilities do not meet the requirements. Although the district has invested in a number of infrastructure projects; the Department of Education and Training and a number of departments have invested and supported a number of smart teaching equipment, because the school's students have increased from 12 classes (in 2018) to 19 classes today (due to the merger of schools), the school's facilities have not met the requirements of educational innovation and the contents of enhanced teaching and learning, especially gifted subjects. Regarding teaching, the biggest difficulty is that the enhanced education program at the unit has not ensured the goals of a high-quality key school, and the output standards have not met the requirements. The enhanced English program has not met the requirements of training high-quality human resources in the trend of international integration”.

Regarding the construction of national standard schools, Tan Ky considers this the top priority task to improve the quality of education, but the district identifies the biggest difficulty as investment resources, because the annual budget revenue of this mountainous district is still modest. Meanwhile, many units have degraded facilities, no longer meeting the criteria of national standard schools compared to regulations. However, every year, the district discusses plans to overcome difficulties, creates all conditions for budget investment in building school infrastructure, and at the same time assigns specific responsibilities to all levels, departments, branches, and even the chairmen of the People's Committees of communes and towns, focusing on the successful implementation of Resolution No. 3 of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee.

Mr. Phan Van Giap - Deputy Secretary of District Party Committee, Chairman of Tan Ky District People's Committee

In fact, the construction of standard schools mainly depends on the resources of local budgets and at the facilities. However, for schools in mountainous areas such as Tan Ky district, capital mobilization is difficult, while social mobilization has not been much, so in the process of building standard schools, re-standardizing and building high-quality key schools, there are still many challenges./.
