The court determined that the politician had committed violations during the presidential election, and ordered Zelensky to pay a fine of 850 hryvnia (a little over $32.4).

During the second round of voting, Zelensky violated the law by showing off his completed ballot. The president-elect's lawyers asked the court to hear the case in Zelensky's absence, as he was unable to come to the courtroom. The defense also asked to close the administrative case, as Zelensky's actions did not constitute a violation.

“The ballot was displayed at the request of journalists, but no call to vote was made,” lawyer Sergei Kalchenko explained, adding that Zelensky himself, when signing the Administrative Protocol drawn up by the police, admitted his part in the error.

By law, a district court's decision can be appealed to the court of appeals within 10 days.

The inauguration of the new President must take place within 30 days after the announcement of the election results, that is, no later than June 3.
