Strengthening protection of sea and islands in the new situation

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 2, the Provincial Party Standing Committee held a thematic conference on international economic integration and the situation of the sea and islands. At the conference, delegates listened to Senior Lieutenant General Vo Tien Trung, former member of the Party Central Committee and former Director of the National Defense Academy, deliver a speech on the current situation of seas and islands.

Senior Lieutenant General Vo Tien Trung outlined the current situation of the sea and islands, especially the situation in the East Sea, the causes of the dispute in the East Sea leading to a high risk of conflict, the Philippines' lawsuit against China at the International Court of Arbitration, the ruling of the International Court of Arbitration, and the international and Vietnamese reactions to this issue.

Senior Lieutenant General Vo Tien Trung: "The ruling of the Permanent Court of Arbitration that China's nine-dash line is invalid will help Vietnam fight the legal battle effectively.

He also conveyed the Party's viewpoint on the goals, tasks, and methods of protecting the sea and islands in the new situation, as well as solutions to persistently fight and protect the Fatherland and the sea and islands of Vietnam. The leadership and management team needs to thoroughly understand the viewpoint that all issues should be resolved through peaceful and friendly means, and fought through the law.

Through the conference, key cadres of Nghe An acquired knowledge of national security and defense of sea and islands associated with vivid evidence, contributing to raising awareness and theory about the current work of protecting national security.
