Concentrating resources, bringing Yen Thanh to rapid and sustainable development

(Baonghean) - On the occasion of the beginning of the New Year 2017, Nghe An Newspaper interviewed comrade Phan Van Tuyen - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Thanh district.

PV:2016 was a difficult year but Yen Thanh district still maintained quite comprehensive development. Could you please tell us some outstanding results?

Comrade Phan Van Tuyen:In 2016, the Party Committee, government, departments, branches and organizations from the district to the grassroots level focused on directing strongly and providing appropriate measures and solutions for each task and each specific time, so the socio-economic situation of the district continued to maintain stable development. The economic growth rate increased by 6.55% compared to 2015, reaching 94.65% of the plan; the added value reached 3,697.49 billion VND, the economic structure shifted in the right direction. Agriculture - forestry - fishery accounted for 49.9%; industry - construction accounted for 20.2%; services accounted for 29.9%. The total social investment was 5,500 billion VND, reaching the set plan.

Food crop area: 25,350.74 ha, main crop output: 153,551 tons of rice, 12,245 tons of corn, raw material crops: 10,785 tons of sugarcane, 21,991 tons of cassava; stable livestock, good control and prevention of diseases for livestock and poultry; fresh meat output of all kinds reached 31,276 tons. Enclosed and raised 1,500 ha of regenerated forest, newly planted 1,385 ha of concentrated forest (equivalent to 2015). Forest cover rate according to new standards: 21.1%; enclosed and raised 1,660 ha of freshwater aquaculture, exploited output reached 6,884 tons, increased by 0.4% compared to 2015, exceeding 110% of the plan.

The National Target Program on New Rural Construction has been strongly implemented, contributing to rural beautification, poverty reduction, and social security; 6 communes received the New Rural Standard Certificate in 2015, bringing the total number of communes meeting the New Rural Standard to 13.

In 2016, continued to reach the NTM finish line in 5 communes of Tan Thanh, Lien Thanh, Hoa Thanh, Vien Thanh, Tho Thanh, in which 2 communes of Vien Thanh, Tho Thanh were proactively purchased cement in advance by the district. Focused on directing the clearance of rural traffic, internal irrigation, building production development models: mushrooms, oranges, rice fish, farms, family farms... Cleared 65 km of traffic, built 53.30 km of rural concrete roads.

In addition to the efforts of the government, socio-political organizations and unions have also implemented a number of programs to support members in borrowing capital to develop production effectively. Directing the establishment and conversion of cooperatives, up to now, 34/46 cooperatives have been implemented.

Industrial and handicraft production facilities continued to be invested in and operated effectively. The value of industrial and construction production at comparable prices reached 3,081 billion VND. Craft villages and villages with crafts were maintained, providing jobs for many workers.

In the field of construction, focus on directing and speeding up the construction progress of key projects such as Ru Gam ecological spiritual cultural tourism area, the district martyrs' temple, Phan Dang Luu monument and the central park in Yen Thanh town, and clearing the land for Trang Ke industrial cluster.

Actively coordinate with the Department of Transport to convert Provincial Road 538, 534, Dinh - Lat Road into National Highway 7B and National Highway 48E; complete documents to submit to the Provincial People's Committee to convert Road 33, Road 22 and Lien - Ly - Minh - Thinh - Tay District Road into Provincial Road. Organize auctions for 26 units, survey and select residential land for 31 communes, issue Decisions to select locations for residential land planning in 17 communes, 3 communes have made survey records.

There has been much progress in the cultural and social fields, successfully organizing the Duc Hoang Temple Festival and the Gam Temple Festival. 3 more historical and cultural relics were recognized, bringing the total to 63 relics, including 24 national relics and 39 provincial relics. 38 more cultural villages were recognized, bringing the total to 321/496 villages, reaching a rate of 64.72%; the rate of cultural families reached 84.5%; 19 cultural units were recognized, bringing the total to 72 units. Cooperated with Viettravel Company to open Yen Thanh tourist route.

Last year, 45 high school teachers were awarded the title of excellent teachers of the province, 312 students were excellent students of the province. Social security policies were well implemented, creating jobs for 4,700 workers, including 685 exported workers. 27 vocational training classes were organized for 830 rural workers. 186,225 tons of rice were received and distributed to support people during Tet; 60,495 tons were provided during the crop shortage; 5,544 poor households were supported with 554.4 million VND were supported. The month of action for children was well organized, scholarships were awarded to 953 poor children, children in difficult circumstances, and students who are good children of Uncle Ho in 39 communes and towns with a total amount of 530 million VND.

Comrade Phan Van Tuyen:Yen Thanh strives to accelerate growth rate associated with economic restructuring. Strongly improve the investment environment, expand and enhance the effectiveness of foreign affairs, promote investment attraction, build economic and social infrastructure, mobilize and effectively use resources for development. Well implement social security and welfare goals. Promote new rural construction, administrative reform, prevent and combat corruption and waste. Complete the infrastructure of fields, form concentrated specialized areas. Promote intensive investment, quickly apply scientific and technological advances to production, and effectively prevent and control diseases.
