Fisherman Nguyen Van Thang - owner of an 800 CV fishing boat in Tien Thuy commune said,boiled squidare purchased by traders for 90,000 - 120,000 VND/kg (depending on the type). His boat brought back nearly 60 trays of squid, more than 1 ton, worth about 100 million VND, not to mention about 3 tons of other seafood, this trip earned over 170 million VND.

"Having received information that storm No. 3 will change direction to the East Sea in the coming days, we fishermen have returned to the mainland to avoid the storm. If there is no storm, we will catch more seafood in 1-2 more days, then return to rest for the full moon," said fisherman Nguyen Van Thang.

Not onlyLach Quen fishing port, but at the fishing ports in Quynh Lap, Quynh Phuong (Hoang Mai town) these days are also bustling with boats returning to port, the scene of buying and selling seafood is bustling.

Mr. Bui Xuan Truc - Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district said that normally, around the 13th day of the lunar month, boats return to rest, but due to the impact of storm No. 3, fishermen returned to the mainland from the 9th. Seafood arriving at the port, traders buy, high-value seafood will be frozen to gradually consume in the market; seafood such as trash fish, anchovies... will be processed into fishmeal to supply to animal feed processing factories; anchovies are used to make fish sauce, or steamed and dried.

However, during the complicated Covid-19 pandemic, seafood consumption was difficult, so prices decreased right at the port.

According to the Lach Quen Fishing Port Management Board, to avoid storm No. 3, fishing boats returned to port from July 18 to 22 (ie the 9th to 13th of the lunar calendar), this is also the time to rest after a series of fishing days at sea, so each boat brought back a certain amount of seafood. The declared data of the boat owners showed that the catch was not as much as in previous seasons, on average each boat was 3 - 5 tons, of which boiled squid accounted for about 20 - 25%.
