On January 8, TASS news agency quoted a military source as saying that this missile is an upgraded version of the Kalibr ballistic missile currently used by the Russian army.

By 2027, the new missile will be installed on large warships and nuclear submarines.

Russia's current Kalibr missiles have a range of about 2,000 km and can reach nearly the speed of sound.

The Russian Navy has used these missiles to attack the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) organization in Syria./.
