Detoxify the body to prevent cancer

December 31, 2016 19:01

Cancer is an alarming problem as Vietnam has 150,000 new cases each year.

According to cancer experts, cancer prevention and early screening solutions need to be prioritized and promoted immediately.

Cancer is largely caused by environmental factors.

In Vietnam, statistics show that cancer cases are on the rise. From 68,000 cases in 2000, the number increased to 126,000 in 2010, and is expected to exceed 190,000 cases by 2020. Accordingly, the amount of money that Vietnam's health insurance has to pay for the treatment of this disease has also increased to hundreds of millions of USD each year (in 2013, it was 160,000,000 USD).

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Duc, former Director of the Central Cancer Hospital, gave a worrying figure when every year our country has nearly 80,000 deaths and 150,000 new cases of cancer. Scientists have pointed out 4 main causes of this disease: 35% due to unsafe food, 30% due to tobacco, 5-10% due to genetics, the rest due to other causes.

With cancer, disease prevention must be a top priority. “Dirty food is a pressing issue in society, because chemicals in food, when entering the body, will gradually accumulate and stick firmly in body tissues.

But once you eat it, how do you get rid of it? So detoxifying the body is a very new issue and needs attention. However, people should not easily apply word-of-mouth detoxification methods such as: drinking lots of water instead of eating, drinking lemon water... because there have been cases of death due to cardiovascular collapse and exhaustion due to drinking only water," emphasized Professor Nguyen Ba Duc.

Awaken the body's detoxification system

At the workshop "Solutions to awaken the body's detoxification system to prevent cancer" recently held in Hanoi, experts said that, in addition to prevention programs (banning smoking in public places) and screening, adjusting the diet is one of the measures to prevent cancer.

Future trends in cancer prevention interventions will focus on the following factors: Knowledge of human genes and biotechnology in the treatment and regulation of cancer-causing genes; Early detection screening and a new trend that is gaining attention in developing countries is the addition of strong antioxidants, especially the active ingredient Sulforaphane, which has the effect of enhancing the elimination of toxins from the body by stimulating the activity of detoxifying enzymes in the liver and protecting cells from the attack of toxins.

Dr. Rudy Simons, a medical technology expert at the Swiss Frutarom Group, said: "Detoxifying the body according to a regimen has been of interest to developed countries for the past two decades. The best way is to awaken the body's detoxification system by supplementing the active ingredient broccoRaphanin, which helps the body produce 240% more glutathione while increasing the amount of enzymes capable of promoting the binding and detoxification of glutathione by 8.1 times, helping to increase the body's ability to detoxify many times, avoiding the risk of cell toxicity, preventing tumors and chronic diseases." Currently, broccoraphanin has become a valuable source of raw materials used in nearly 20 countries, including Vietnam, to produce pharmaceuticals.

Regarding detoxification, according to experts, the liver has a self-detoxification mechanism, helping to remove excess substances and toxins from the body. However, normally the detoxification system only operates at 40% capacity, while toxins in food are increasing, so it is necessary to supplement antioxidants and active ingredients that increase the activity of enzymes in the liver by eating foods rich in glutathione such as asparagus, cauliflower sprouts, spinach, okra... However, there are substances that the liver cannot eliminate, so the best way is to limit the introduction of toxins into the body.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Thi Huong, Director of the Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, said that obese people have a high risk of developing cancers: esophageal, prostate, colorectal, breast, endometrial, and kidney.

Other input factors such as alcohol will cause cancer of the oral cavity, esophagus, liver, colon and breast. Eating salty food will cause cancer of the stomach, nose and throat. Eating a lot of red meat can easily cause colorectal cancer. Eating moldy food (aflatoxin) causes liver cancer. Regularly eating and drinking very hot food and drinks will often cause cancer of the oral cavity and esophagus. Eating a lot of grilled food and fast food will cause cancer of the stomach, colon and rectum.../.
