Corruption causes damage of nearly 60,000 billion VND
Of the 59,750 billion VND and over 400 hectares of land damaged by corruption cases and incidents, the recovered amount was 4,676.6 billion VND and over 219 hectares of land.
Today (July 12), the Government held a conference to review 10 years of implementing the Law on Anti-Corruption (AC).
In his opening speech, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh stated that the promulgation and implementation of the 2005 Law on Anti-Corruption has created a legal basis to raise awareness of officials, civil servants and people about anti-corruption.

"The work of anti-corruption has achieved certain results and has had clear changes. Detection of corruption through inspection, examination, and settlement of complaints and denunciations has increased. Many serious and complicated corruption cases have been discovered and strictly handled, having a positive impact on deterrence and prevention," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
"However, there are also difficulties and challenges, and anti-corruption work has not met the set requirements. Corruption is still complicated in many areas such as land, public investment, bank credit, personnel organization..., causing bad consequences, eroding people's trust in the regime, creating potential conflicts of interest, social reactions, and increasing the gap between rich and poor."
The Deputy Prime Minister also pointed out that a significant number of cadres and party members, including those in leadership positions, have degraded in morality and lifestyle, fallen into individualism, opportunism, chasing after money, status, localism, corruption, waste, and lack of principles...
2,530 cases prosecuted
According to the report of the Government Inspector General Nguyen Van Sau, in 10 years, the inspection sector has discovered 670 cases with 1,815 subjects with acts and signs of corruption with related money and assets of 1,022 billion VND, 73.6 hectares of land; transferred to the investigation agency 274 cases, 429 subjects with signs of corruption crimes.
Corruption cases were detected and handled in large numbers, 2,530 corruption cases were prosecuted with 5,447 defendants; 2,959 cases were prosecuted, 6,935 defendants; 2,628 cases were tried, 5,870 defendants.

To prevent corruption, the rate of asset and income declaration has reached 99.5%, and the rate of disclosure has reached 98.3%. Over the past 10 years, 4,859 cases have been verified, 17 people who declared assets dishonestly were discovered and disciplined, and 70 people were disciplined.
To date, 879 officials and civil servants have returned gifts with a total value of 3.3 billion VND; 10 violations have been detected and handled.
