A US federal judge in Hawaii has decided to urgently block Trump's new immigration ban, just hours before it was to take effect.

US federal judge Derrick Watson has urgently blocked the executive order signed by US President Trump on March 6. Mr. Trump wants to ban citizens from 6 major Muslim countries from entering the US for 90 days and stop the entire refugee program for 120 days.

Judge Watson said the state of Hawaii had shown a good chance of success in its claim that the order violated the US Constitution's prohibition against religious discrimination. Critics of the ban say it discriminates against Muslims.
