Cam Bridge was built across the Cam River in the area of Nghi Yen and Nghi Quang communes, Nghi Loc district. This is the vital intersection of National Highway 1A, the North-South railway and waterway. During the resistance war against the American imperialists, Cam Bridge was the site of many fierce battles, the focus of attacks by the US air force and artillery to cut off support from the North to the South. At the same time, it witnessed the heroic and tenacious fighting of our army and people to protect the bridge and protect the vital North-South traffic.
Here, 172 cadres, soldiers, youth volunteers, and frontline workers heroically sacrificed their lives; among them were 30 children of Nghi Loc homeland. With such historical significance, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has ranked the historical site of Cam Bridge as a National Historical Relic.
