Barca's miracle was partly due to a strong start. Right after the opening whistle, the red and blue striped team quickly pressed the field, forcing PSG to make mistakes. Taking advantage of the opportunity in the penalty area, Luis Suarez headed home the opening goal in the third minute.
Under constant pressure from Barca, PSG's attack and midfield were almost without the ball. The visitors were able to hold out until almost the end of the first half mainly thanks to their experienced defense. With the presence of the central defender duo Thiago Silva - Marquinhos, PSG escaped many times from Barca's shots. The home team only got the second goal thanks to luck, when Iniesta made a backheel pass that made Kurzawa confused and scored an own goal in the 40th minute.

Conceding two goals in the first half may have had a negative impact on PSG's mentality. After the break, facing the frenzied atmosphere at the Nou Camp, Unai Emery's team made more mistakes. One of these mistakes was when right-back Thomas Meunier tripped and tried to head the ball away from Neymar in the penalty area. Having a chance to take a penalty, Messi finished hard to make it 3-0.
While Barca's hopes grew, PSG had the chance to show their mettle as a strong team. In the 62nd minute, the French champions reduced the score to 1-3 with a skillful outside-of-the-foot shot from Edinson Cavani. And this goal could have been the most important if not for three consecutive goals from Barca in the last seven minutes.

At crucial moments, Neymar was truly the best player on the pitch. The striker fired a direct free-kick to make it 4-1, and a precise penalty to make it 5-1, before passing to Sergi Roberto to tap in the winner. After the lightning comeback, the Nou Camp stadium seemed to explode with the cheers of the fans.
With a final score of 6-5, Barca became the fourth team to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League this season after Bayern, Real and Dortmund. This is also the tenth consecutive season that the Nou Camp team has reached the quarter-finals.
