Establishment of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Group

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has just signed a decision to establish the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Group.

The group consists of 14 members, headed by Dr. Vu Viet Ngoan, former Chairman of the National Financial Supervision Committee.

Among the members of the Advisory Group are former Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh, many famous economic experts from international universities such as: Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Anh, Indiana University, USA; Dr. Vu Thanh Tu Anh, Director of Research, Fulbright Economics Teaching Program; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Khuong, Deputy Director, Head of Finance Department, Academy of Management and Business Administration, France; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Khuong, National University of Singapore; Prof. Dr. Tran Van Tho, Wasada University, Japan.

The Prime Minister's economic advisory group also includes domestic experts such as: Dr. Vu Bang, former Chairman of the State Securities Commission; Dr. Nguyen Dinh Cung, Director of the Central Institute for Economic Management Research; Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat, President of the National Economics University;

Dr. Truong Van Phuoc, Acting Chairman of the National Financial Supervisory Commission; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, Director of the Vietnam Economic Institute; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Dr. Tran Du Lich, former Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Institute.

The group is responsible for advising the Prime Minister on strategies, plans, projects, and policies for medium- and long-term economic development; and annual socio-economic development plans.

In addition, the team also participates in analyzing, forecasting, and evaluating the situation and results of implementing socio-economic development plans, strategies, projects, and economic development policies; on that basis, it advises and recommends to the Prime Minister measures and solutions to improve implementation efficiency or propose amendments and supplements to mechanisms and policies to achieve the set goals.

At the same time, the Group also advises and recommends to the Prime Minister solutions and measures to promptly respond to the erratic fluctuations of the domestic and international economic situation.

The group also gives opinions on major economic reports and projects of the Government and the Prime Minister submitted to the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the National Assembly, and the National Assembly Standing Committee under the direction of the Prime Minister.

The Economic Advisory Group proactively works with ministries, branches, localities, agencies, institutes, and research centers; requests these units to provide documents, materials, and data; and is regularly provided by the Government Office with documents, materials, and data related to the performance of the Group's functions and tasks.

The team cooperates with consultants and collaborators who are domestic and international scientists and economists, Vietnamese people residing abroad; working or retired managers, and domestic and international research agencies.

Members of the economic advisory group are invited to attend conferences, meetings, and work of the Government and the Prime Minister related to the performance of the group's functions and tasks.
