Young people join hands to help new soldier's family harvest sugarcane

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 15, nearly 40 youth union members and militia and self-defense forces of Hung Son commune (Anh Son) helped the family of new soldier Nguyen Van Hai in village 8 harvest sugarcane.

These days, farmers in Hung Son commune are harvesting sugarcane to supply to sugar factories. While many households have finished harvesting, Mr. Nguyen Van Ngo's family's sugarcane in village 8 is still in the field.

Mr. Ngo's family has a son, Nguyen Van Hai, who just joined the army (March 2018). The family is short of people. The grandparents are old, sick, and have difficulty moving around, so they cannot harvest sugarcane.

Understanding the situation, Hung Son Commune Youth Union mobilized union members and youth in the commune to coordinate with the Commune Team and the Commune Women's Union to harvest sugarcane for Mr. Ngo's family. From early morning, dozens of workers from the unions, carrying full knives and machetes, were present at Mr. Ngo's sugarcane field to work.

Because the sugarcane is good and has many leaves, cutting down the trees is the top priority. In the morning, everyone gathers to cut down the trees and clean the leaves. In the afternoon, they bundle and carry the sugarcane onto the truck. With the spirit of working urgently and enthusiastically, "helping others as helping yourself", Mr. Ngo's 6 sao of sugarcane were harvested by the Hung Son Commune Youth Union and other organizations in one day.
