Vinh City rewards outstanding collectives in "Tet for the poor in the Spring of Mau Tuat"

Responding to the Provincial Party Secretary's Appeal for Support and Assistance to the Poor to Celebrate the Year of the Dog, the Vinh City Fatherland Front Committee has implemented many solutions to mobilize and call for participation and contributions from all walks of life. Thanks to that, in addition to registering to support 1.8 billion VND at the live TV program "Tet for the Poor - Year of the Dog 2018", Vinh City has organized to receive and mobilize 609 agencies, units and individuals to participate, thereby supporting 3.64 billion VND for the Program.

Based on the mobilized funds, the city has given 5,616 gifts to poor households, near-poor households, and families of people with meritorious services in difficult circumstances, of which 100% of poor and near-poor households received gifts, ensuring a minimum of 500,000 VND/gift.

Specifically, Vinh city called on agencies, units, and schools in the area to support 458 million VND; wards and communes called for 3.182 billion VND. Through review, the city gave 468 gifts worth 304 million VND; wards and communes supported 5,148 gifts worth 3.11 billion VND. In addition to giving gifts to beneficiaries in the ward or city, the program also allocated 25 million VND to communes to support the poor; supported Mai Son commune (Tuong Duong) with 200 gifts worth 100 million VND to give to poor households; transferred 203 million VND to the city's poor fund.

At the meeting, representatives of city departments, branches and wards and communes also presented some lessons learned and good practices in mobilizing and calling for support.

In order for the mobilization to support Tet for the poor next year to achieve high results, Vinh city determined to seriously grasp the policy of the superiors, resolutely and synchronously in the implementation; the process of mobilizing and reviewing the subjects must ensure democracy, transparency, and compliance with the purpose, requirements, and plans set out; in addition to taking care of the subjects of the city, it is necessary to support other localities, especially poor districts in the West...
