Thao Nguyen lost to the world's number 3 female chess player

On the evening of February 17 (Iran time), Pham Le Thao Nguyen lost to the world's number 3 female chess player from Ukraine, Muzychuk Anna, in the first leg of the third round of the 2017 Women's World Chess Championship taking place in Iran.

With an elo rating of 2351, Thao Nguyen is the player with the lowest elo rating among the last 16 remaining players in the tournament. Meanwhile, Muzychuk Anna is the second seed with an elo rating of 2558.
