According to information from VFF, Coach Park Hang Seo has about 50 players to choose from for the U23 Vietnam team to attend the 2018 Asiad. Because the Asiad regulations stipulate that each team must have 3 players over 23 years old (23+3 formula), a few veterans in the Vietnam team have also been "chosen" by Coach Park.

Notably, in the goalkeeper position, Dang Van Lam has shown that he is in very good form this season in Hai Phong's shirt. In fact, even in the national team, Van Lam is the number 1 goalkeeper, so it is understandable that this overseas Vietnamese goalkeeper is a reinforcement for U23 Vietnam.

With Dang Van Lam called up, U23 Vietnam goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung will have difficulty competing for the starting position. In the FLC Thanh Hoa shirt, Tien Dung is often on the bench, and even when he is on the field, he cannot play as well as he did in the U23 Asian Cup earlier this year.

Of course, Tien Dung is still coach Park Hang Seo's favorite player, but if he cannot improve his performance in the upcoming matches in the V-League, it is not surprising that the Korean coach will give Dang Van Lam a chance at the upcoming Asiad.

Lacking a partner to play alongside Xuan Truong, Van Quyet has a bright chance to attend Asiad

If the goalkeeper position has almost been finalized by coach Park Hang Seo with the name Dang Van Lam, then with the two remaining "positions" of veterans, the Korean coach is having a headache.

In the defense, Que Ngoc Hai (SLNA) is completely worthy of being called, however with the current U23 Vietnam, Dinh Trong, Tien Dung, Duy Manh... are not inferior. Importantly, if Que Ngoc Hai is called, Coach Park Hang Seo will only have one choice for the attack.

This is a problem that Coach Park is considering very carefully, because in the recent U23 Asian Cup, Xuan Truong did not have a suitable partner to share the burden in the central midfield position. Currently in the V-League, Do Hung Dung of Hanoi is receiving very high praise from Coach Park Hang Seo.
