According to the initial grouping results of the men's football event of the 30th SEA Games, U22 Vietnam is in the bottom group with Laos, Cambodia, Brunei and East Timor. This is the grouping method based on the achievements of the teams in the previous Southeast Asian Games.

There is a big illogicality in the above grouping when U22 Vietnam is placed in group 4 but U22 Singapore is in group 3, while both teams were eliminated from the group stage at the 29th SEA Games. At the same time, if this grouping is maintained, Coach Park Hang-seo and his team are at risk of falling into the "death group" with Thailand, Malaysia and Myanmar.

Of course, both fans and the Vietnam Football Federation disagreed with the grouping method of the host Philippines. Therefore, the VFF filed a complaint with the Organizing Committee immediately after the grouping results were announced. And according to the revelation of VFF Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan, the Organizing Committee has accepted and will make adjustments.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan said: "VFF did not just complain now, but right after the grouping results were out, we discovered this. We talked to the President of the Philippine Football Federation to share the specific issue.

Our point of view is to rearrange it properly. This could be due to a technical error from the Organizing Committee and confusion due to the many competitions. The representative of the Organizing Committee of the 30th SEA Games has also received comments and reported to the SEA Games Organizing Committee for appropriate adjustments."

The 30th SEA Games in the Philippines will take place in 2 weeks from November 30 to December 10. This year, VFF sets a goal for coach Park Hang-seo to bring home a gold medal for U22 Vietnam.
