(Baonghean.vn) - The wooden boarding houses for teachers and students of Nam Can 2 Primary School (Ky Son District) that were built decades ago have seriously degraded, causing insecurity for teachers and students. In order to teach, the school's teachers are forced to fix it by using temporary supports.

In the 2023-2024 school year, Nam Can 2 Primary School in Huoi Poc village (Nam Can commune, Ky Son district) has 7 classes with 150 students, including 15 boarding students. Although the classrooms have been built spaciously, the boarding rooms for teachers and students here are still simple and makeshift. Photo: Minh Khue

Mr. Vu Ba Si - Principal of the school said that the school has 3 rows of wooden houses, of which 2 rows are used as accommodation for 19 teachers and 15 boarding students. These rows of houses were built decades ago, and have been seriously degraded in the past 3 years. Photo: Minh Khue

The house pillars are eaten by termites, no longer able to support the house and could cause it to collapse at any time. Photo: Minh Khue

“The corrugated iron sheets in this room, which has been used as a kitchen for teachers for many years, are rusty and damaged, so every rainy season, water leaks. Many times, when teachers are having dinner and it rains, they have to carry their bowls and find another place to finish their meal,” said teacher Nguyen Van Duc. Photo: Minh Khue

When winter comes, the climate in the Nam Can highlands is often cold. Teachers cover the students' rooms with tarpaulins but they still cannot avoid damage. Photo: Minh Khue

“We have submitted a report to the leaders at all levels for a solution, however, we are still waiting because this school is in the planning stage to merge with Nam Can 1 Primary School. The school has wanted to permanently repair it, but due to limited funds, we have had to give up. To overcome this, the school has used crutches to support the house and a temporary tarpaulin cover,” said Mr. Vu Ba Si. Photo: Minh Khue
