1. China-US summit

On April 6, the first China-US summit took place in Florida under President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly harshly criticized China both as a candidate and after being elected president.
This first summit is not only the focus of political and diplomatic activities for Washington and Beijing, but also attracts special attention from international public opinion. This event is considered to be of utmost importance in establishing and reshaping the nature of relations between the two largest powers in the world for many years to come.
2. Attack on Russian subway, 14 people died

An explosive device exploded on a subway train from Sennaya station to the Technological Institute station in St Petersburg, Russia, at around 2:40 p.m. on April 3, killing 14 people and injuring 45 others. The explosive device is believed to be homemade and contained many sharp pieces.
Russian President Vladimir Putin sent his condolences to the victims' families and vowed a full investigation into the incident. "We are considering all possibilities, including terrorism," he said. Meanwhile, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said it was "a terrorist attack."
Immediately after the explosion, the mayor of Moscow immediately increased security on underground routes and subways in the capital. Authorities in St Petersburg announced three days of mourning, starting April 4, to remember the victims of the subway explosion.
3. Chemical weapons attack in Syria, at least 58 people dead

On April 4, the BBC quoted the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights as saying that chemical weapons attacks on the town of Khan Sheikhoun, Idlib province while people were sleeping, caused many people to suffocate. Then a plane was deployed to fire missiles at local clinics where survivors were being treated - many nurses and activists said.
Although the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the attack killed 58 people, including 11 children, Mohammed Rasoul, head of the Idlib ambulance service, said 67 people were killed and more than 300 injured. If confirmed, it would be one of the deadliest chemical attacks in Syria since the country's civil war began six years ago.
4. The US launched 59 Tomahawk missiles into Syria

On April 6, President Donald Trump authorized a military strike in Syria following a chemical weapons attack in the country on April 4.
Under orders from President Trump, US warships launched 50 to 60 Tomahawk cruise missiles targeting a Syrian airbase where the US accused its fighter jets of carrying out a chemical weapons attack.
5. South Korea launches missiles in response to North Korea

On April 6, Yonhap reported that South Korea successfully test-fired a missile capable of reaching anywhere in North Korea, in response to Pyongyang's missile test on the morning of April 5.
South Korean Defense Minister Han Min-koo personally oversaw the test, which found that the missile met key requirements for flight performance and accuracy in hitting the target. However, the ADD also shortened the missile's flight range in this test due to space limitations.
6. Horrific landslide in Colombia, more than 150 people died

On April 1, a landslide occurred in the southwestern Colombian border province of Putumayo, killing more than 150 people. According to the Colombian Red Cross, the landslide also left about 400 people injured and more than 200 missing.
Heavy rains overnight caused rivers in the region to overflow, carrying mud and sediment, destroying roads and homes in the capital Mocoa, which has a population of 345,000.
7. Truck Terror in Sweden

A truck crashed into a crowd on a street in central Stockholm, Sweden, on the afternoon of April 7 local time, around 8 pm Vietnam time.
The incident left at least 5 people dead and many injured. Emergency services were immediately on the scene to treat the victims.
Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven said all factors showed this was a terrorist attack and ordered increased border controls./.
