2012 Olympics Bronze Medalist Yulia Efimova was also banned from the Rio Olympics for doping.

The decisions by FINA and FISA come after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decided not to impose a blanket ban on all Russian athletes over the country's doping scandal. Instead, individual sports federations will be responsible for investigating athletes in their respective sports.

The names banned from swimming at Rio de Janeiro include 2012 Olympic bronze medallist Yulia Efimova, Mikhail Dovgalyuk, Natalia Lovtcova and Anastasia Krapivina, who have all received previous drug penalties.

In addition, three other athletes who appeared in the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) report, Nikita Lobintsev, Vladimir Morozov and Daria Ustinova, were also banned from participating in the 2016 Olympics.

In sailing, Anastasia Karabelshchikova and Ivan Podshivalov will be banned for past doping violations; with Ivan Bladin, who was found guilty in a separate WADA report, also receiving the same punishment.

Both World Swimming and World Rowing have said they will continue to investigate other athletes.
