Türkiye talks about talks around US F-35 and Russian S-400
Representatives of the two military agencies of the United States and Türkiye will continue to exchange views to resolve issues related to the US provision of fifth-generation F-35 fighter jets to Türkiye and the possibility of Ankara purchasing S-400 air defense missile systems from Moscow.
That was the statement of Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar.
Since June 26, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Wess Mitchell has warned that if Türkiye purchases the Russian S-400 systems, it will lead to Washington imposing sanctions against Ankara and have a “qualitatively changing” impact on bilateral relations. In addition, as Assistant Mitchell emphasized, the United States could refuse to deliver the F-35 aircraft ordered by Turkey.
