Passing Resolution on piloting electronic visa issuance for foreigners
This morning (November 22), the National Assembly voted to pass a Resolution assigning the Government to pilot the issuance of electronic visas for foreigners entering Vietnam.
Accordingly, electronic visas are issued through the electronic transaction system, are valid for a single entry, and are valid for no more than 30 days.
The pilot issuance of electronic visas will be implemented for a period of 2 years, starting from February 1, 2017. The Government will report to the National Assembly on the implementation results of this Resolution at the end of 2018 session.

The pilot issuance of electronic visas applies to citizens of countries that meet the following conditions: Having diplomatic relations with Vietnam; Being consistent with Vietnam's socio-economic development and foreign policy in each period; Not harming Vietnam's national defense, security, social order and safety.
The Government decides on the list of countries whose citizens are eligible for pilot electronic visas; the list of border gates allowing foreigners to enter and exit with electronic visas.
Applicants for e-visa must pay the visa fee via bank account. The visa fee is non-refundable in case of rejection.
Foreigners requesting a visa other than an electronic visa must comply with the provisions of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam and relevant international treaties to which Vietnam is a member./.
