After completing the administrative unit merger, the VNeID electronic identification application has started automatically updating personal information according to the new boundaries.

However, due to the sudden increase in traffic and large amount of data, some information such as hometown and place of residence are not displayed correctly. The Department of Administrative Police for Social Order (C06, Ministry of Public Security) confirmed that the review and update are being urgently carried out and need more time to complete.

From July 1, after completing the merger, the country now has 34 provinces and centrally-run cities. Along with that, the two-level local government model (province/city and commune/ward/town) officially came into operation, eliminating the district level.

Immediately after the reorganization, the VNeID electronic identification application automatically updated citizens' personal information according to the new administrative unit. However, on the morning of July 1, many people reported slow access due to the sudden increase in the number of users, especially when looking up information about hometown and residential address after the merger. In some cases, the displayed hometown information was also recorded as incorrect, causing concern for people.

According to the Department of Administrative Police for Social Order (C06, Ministry of Public Security), information on hometowns and residential addresses is being automatically updated by the system according to the new administrative boundaries. However, the process of synchronizing data nationwide is very large and needs more time to complete. People can rest assured that any errors will be reviewed and accurately adjusted.

People can check personal information on VNeID in three simple ways as follows:

Method 1: Log in to the VNeID application → select Paper Wallet → select View detailed information → enter password. Information such as place of birth registration, hometown, permanent residence, and current residence will be displayed here.

Method 2: Log in to VNeID → select ID card/CCCD → enter password → select Electronic ID. Updated information includes place of birth, hometown, temporary residence...

Method 3: Go to Paper Wallet → select Residence Information → enter password to unlock. This section also displays residence information of household members.
