Dallas police have shared a photo of a black man carrying a rifle and identified him as Mark Hughes, the suspect in the shooting of police officers at a protest in Dallas yesterday that left at least four police officers dead and 11 injured, according to Inquisitr.

Cory Hughes, Mark Hughes' brother, was an organizer of the protest. In an interview with CBS News, Cory Hughes insisted his brother had nothing to do with the shooting and had turned his weapon over to police.

"That's my brother, he's not a suspect," Corey Hughes told a reporter. "When they started shooting, I went to find my brother and got him to turn the gun over to the police."

Another witness named Jade also said she was with Mark Hughes throughout the protest and they were in the crowd running away when the first shots rang out.

She also confirmed that Corey Hughes asked Mark Hughes to turn in his gun to the police. Mark Hughes was one of several protesters carrying guns at the event.

According to some reports, after the incident, Mark Hughes was summoned by the authorities and may have turned himself in.

There are conflicting reports about whether Mark Hughes is a suspect in the Dallas shooting. While some media outlets have identified Mark Hughes as a suspect, police have since said he is a “person of interest.”

The shooting occurred at a time when people in many places in the US were protesting to express anger at the police shooting dead two black people in just two days.
