Hundreds of toys and thousands of moon cakes of unknown origin seized

Mid-Autumn Festival is the time when the business of items such as candy and children's toys is most active in the year. This is also the time when the trade, sale and transportation of moon cakes and toys of unknown origin flourish. In addition to traditional toys produced domestically, foreign-made children's toys without invoices or documents proving their origin are still exploited by criminals to bring to the hands ofconsumer.

In order to prevent this situation, under the direct direction of the provincial police leaders, the police of units and localities have strengthened inspection and strict control, thereby detecting many cases of moon cakes and children's toys of unknown origin circulating in the market.

On September 4, 2022, at the lobby of VLR Apartment Building in Quang Trung Ward, Vinh City, the Economic Police Department, Nghe An Provincial Police coordinated with relevant units to discover 360 foreign-made moon cakes of unknown origin with a total value of 50 million VND.

At the time of inspection, the owner of the above goods could not present invoices or documents proving the legal origin of the goods. The authorities have drawn up a record of the incident and temporarily detained all goods for verification in accordance with legal regulations.

Previously, on August 31 and September 1, 2022, in Dien Cat commune, Dien Chau district and Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district, respectively, the Economic Police Department, Nghe An Provincial Police coordinated with relevant units to discover and seize 2,500 moon cakes; 130 guns, 80 plastic swords of various types of unknown origin. All infringing goods were temporarily detained by the authorities and further investigation and handling was carried out.

In the coming time, Nghe An Provincial Police will continue to coordinate and strengthen inspections of production and business establishments, means of transporting counterfeit goods, smuggled goods, goods of unknown origin, to protect consumer rights during the 2022 Mid-Autumn Festival./.
