'Valedictorian' of 10th grade doesn't know... to take extra classes
(Baonghean.vn) - Coming from a "village school" student, Nguyen Thi Van Nhi (Dien Hanh Secondary School, Dien Chau) has excelled over nearly 29,000 candidates to win the "valedictorian" position in the 10th grade entrance exam, school year 2017 - 2018 with very high scores: Math 10, Literature: 9.5 and English: 9.25 points.

Many people were surprised by this result. However, for Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Van Nhi's father, it was a result worthy of Van Nhi's efforts.
He said: Van Nhi is the eldest daughter in the family. However, due to her poor health, she has mainly studied near home since she started school. Even in 6th grade, Nhi was admitted to Cao Xuan Huy School - the head of Dien Chau district, but because the school was too far away, the travel conditions were not favorable, and Nhi's health was unstable, she only studied for one year, and her family transferred her to Dien Hanh School near home.
Although she only attends a normal school in the commune, her parents are very satisfied because every year she is selected to be in the school's excellent student team in both Math and English. In grade 9, Nhi won the Encouragement Prize at the Provincial Excellent Student Competition in Math.

With good academic performance, teachers have repeatedly advised Nhi to boldly register for the provincial specialized school, but Van Nhi's parents did not put pressure on her. On the contrary, they encouraged her to develop her own abilities. Nhi was lucky that her mother was a math teacher, so she understood her child's abilities very well and allowed her to develop freely.
What is special is that, despite getting high scores in all three subjects, Van Nhi did not attend any extra classes before this exam. In addition to the knowledge learned in class, Nhi mainly studied at home and supplemented her knowledge through the school's training classes for gifted students.
Sharing her secret, Van Nhi said: For the 10th grade high school entrance exam, if you do not take the exam to enter specialized schools, you do not need to take extra classes, you just need to focus on listening to lectures in class. Knowledge must be accumulated throughout the process, not waiting until the exam to focus on studying.
Besides, you should practice different types of exercises to get familiar with them and during the exam, you should also flexibly apply your knowledge, not be stereotyped and rigid.

Regarding the 10 points in Math, Van added: Although many people say the test is difficult, in reality, I find that the test is completely within the review program and we were given this type of test by our teachers during the exam preparation process. However, during the test, candidates need to pay attention to flexibly applying the knowledge they have learned in order to do well.
With this result, on June 19, the Dien Hanh Commune government and Dien Hanh Secondary School also came to give gifts to Van Nhi. The 10th grade "valedictorian" also shared: This is just the initial result and I still have a long way to go...
This success is not only mine but also my family's, teachers' and I will always try to not disappoint everyone's trust.
