The 'strange' learning secret of the valedictorian of 10th grade Literature at Phan Boi Chau Specialized School
Promoting the impressive record of an excellent student throughout 9 years of study, in the entrance exam to grade 10, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Pham Thi Trang - class 9A, Ho Xuan Huong Middle School, Quynh Luu district excellently became the valedictorian of Literature with 18 points.
Pham Thi Trang was born into a family with a tradition of studiousness in Hamlet 10, Quynh Hung Commune. The love, encouragement and sharing from her parents, brothers, sisters and teachers are the driving force that motivates her to constantly strive to improve in her studies, to become a good child and a good student. Thanks to that, Trang won first prize in the district's Literature competition for excellent students in grades 8 and 9 and second prize at the provincial level in this subject in grade 9. Recently, she and her whole family burst into happiness when Trang was one of the 13 valedictorians of the entrance subjects to Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted. At the same time, she continued to receive good news when she was admitted to the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, with a score of 8/10.

Talking about the secret to achieving high results in Literature, Trang shared: I combine two learning methods, which are focusing on acquiring basic knowledge from teachers in class and self-studying at home. In particular, I focus on reading literary dialogues by writers Nguyen Ngoc Tu, Nguyen Quang Thieu or Nobel Prize-winning writers such as Mo Yan, HC... Through that, I find new, different and better literary perspectives and comments, to flexibly apply them to my writing to become a bright, attractive point.

Trang is also very fond of reading valuable literary works and feels satisfied with them such as: "The Sorrow of War", "Indignation Does Not Make Us Innocent". At the same time, reading many newspapers, youth literature magazines, watching the news to both relieve stress after school hours and enrich the source of data and evidence, to apply to writing social or literary argumentative essays in depth.

What Trang finds “strange” about herself is that when she wants to think deeply about a work or a topic, she often talks to herself and asks herself many questions: “Why?” Then she gives herself many opinions, ponders whether this issue is right or not, guides herself to think coherently and looks at the issue from a multi-dimensional perspective.
For Trang, the core issue to be truly good at Literature is effort, diligence, promoting self-study and coherent, innovative thinking, looking at problems from many perspectives. Therefore, in addition to class hours, I also participate in the course on the Fanpage "Bloody Literature". This is a course that combines teachers with many years of teaching experience and national excellent students, so I learn a lot of useful things and creativity here.

For Trang, the passion for literature was ignited from the beginning of 6th grade. During the learning process, the teachers of Ho Xuan Huong Secondary School inspired her, so her love for Literature grew over time. However, there was a period when she felt tired due to practicing many topics and her writing became bland. Sometimes she encountered topics that were too restrictive and deadlocked, preventing her from fully exploiting her abilities... In the midst of difficulties, she discovered an interesting way to do it, which was to talk with her literature friends on social networks, debate an issue together, analyze each detail, and draw valuable experiences for herself. With a diverse and rich learning method, her annual Literature score usually reached 9.3 - 9.5 points.

According to Trang, studying Literature well has helped her improve herself, overcome shyness, easily express language, and communicate with people. Create a multi-dimensional view of all aspects of life, keep her mentally strong in the face of events, especially issues that appear on social networking sites. Besides Literature, Trang also has a passion for English and Math. Therefore, she always knows how to balance her time to study all subjects.
Teacher Le Thi Thu Huong - Homeroom teacher of class 9A, Ho Xuan Huong Secondary School said: As a Literature teacher, I see that Trang has a very good ability to self-study, a very rich and diverse vocabulary. She does not like passive learning but always seeks to be creative in writing and solving problems. Trang has courage, strength, and confidence in exams. Under the guidance of the teachers and with her inherent talent, Trang has actively practiced hard, overcome the remaining shortcomings, to make her writing better and more complete.
Trang is a class monitor who is good at all subjects. She is an outstanding student in her class for 4 years of secondary school. Not only does she love literature, but she is also passionate about creating science and technology in the field of behavioral science. Thanks to that, her creative science and technology product on "Solutions to help students increase reading and access books effectively" won the third prize at the provincial level in the 2023-2024 school year.

Currently, Pham Thi Trang has not yet made a decision for herself whether to choose Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted or the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities under the Hanoi National University to pursue a new stage of study. However, having passed both of these prestigious educational schools, Trang's dream of becoming a People's Policewoman in the future becomes even more intense and closer.
