The top scorer of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's Thinking Assessment Exam comes from the mountainous area of Nghe An.
On the morning of May 28, Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced the results of the 4th Thinking Assessment Test in 2024. Surpassing nearly 6,000 students taking the test, Le Viet Khang - class 12A0, Thai Hoa High School won the title of Valedictorian. This is also the first time the school has had a student achieve the highest score in this test with 94.22/100 points.
Valedictorian with rich achievements
"The thinking assessment test had quite a lot of questions and I think I did well in the requirements. The mistakes in the test were probably just small mistakes or easy questions" - Le Viet Khang, Top scorer of the Thinking Assessment Test of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, shared about his test.
However, becoming the valedictorian of the exam was still a complete surprise for Khang. Because this exam gathered many excellent students from all over the country and the opportunity to win the highest position was not much. Therefore, he was really happy with the results he achieved.

The 4th Thinking Assessment Test of Hanoi University of Science and Technology was just held on May 19. Compared to many other candidates, Khang participated in this test quite late. The day he received the results was also the closing ceremony of Thai Hoa High School. When the test results were announced, not only Khang but also his teachers and friends burst into joy.
This result once again enriches this male student's record of achievements because before that, in addition to the title of Excellent Student for 3 consecutive years, Khang also achieved a double in the Provincial Excellent Student Competition for Grade 12 with Second Prize in both Math and Physics.
The male student also shared that, with the title of Excellent Student, he had many opportunities to be admitted to top universities based on talent. However, he still wanted to try his hand at the Thinking Assessment Test of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, because he did not want to miss the opportunity to enter the IT1 major - the "hottest" major of the school.

Khang started setting goals for the Thinking Assessment Test from the beginning of grade 12. However, the luggage for him to confidently take this test is not only the knowledge from 3 years of high school but also a lot of other knowledge, even from middle school and knowledge from reality.
The thinking assessment test focuses mainly on four subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. For Math, the test has many difficult problems. Meanwhile, for the remaining subjects, the exercises are more practical.
Therefore, I have to master the basic knowledge, review and practice questions like the graduation exam. In addition, I also have to read a lot of books and newspapers to update information and social knowledge.
Student Le Viet Khang
What is special about Le Viet Khang is that although he won the valedictorian position, he said he did not attend any extra courses. Instead, he found more resources from friends and social networks. For parts he did not understand, he asked his teachers for support.
Before the real exam, Khang registered to take some online mock exams to review his abilities. At times, even though his test scores were not satisfactory, Khang said the “secret” to a successful exam was to create a comfortable mindset when taking the exam, not to worry too much to put pressure on himself.
The special student
The Thinking Assessment (TSA) is one of three admission methods to Hanoi University of Science and Technology, applied since 2020. Currently, the results of this exam are also used by many other universities for admission.

Due to the special nature of the Thinking Assessment Test, there were quite a few candidates participating this year. In Khang’s class 12A0, more than 2/3 of the students took the test and not many candidates reached the desired finish line.
As both a Math teacher and Khang's homeroom teacher, teacher Dau Huy Lam said: For many students, especially those who live far from the center like our school, it is still difficult for students to access the thinking assessment exam. The resources they get are mainly through exchanges or searching online. Some students have registered for online courses but they are not effective. As for teachers, to help students access this exam, we also have to search and provide materials and practice tests for them. When students need advice, we are ready to support.

According to Mr. Lam, the difficulty of the thinking assessment test is that it requires a comprehensive amount of knowledge from many years of study and many different subjects. Therefore, to successfully participate in the exam, students, in addition to talent, need to be diligent, persistent, and hard-working. As for Khang, with many qualities of a good student, he completely deserves the results he has achieved.
Khang is smart, everyone can see, because in the Provincial Excellent Student Competition for Grade 12, he was only 0.13 points short of winning First Prize. We highly appreciate Khang for his meticulousness and seriousness. During the past school year, Khang never missed any class or subject, including social subjects that he did not graduate from. During his studies, he was a receptive, modest and extremely careful student, studying all subjects equally.

With this achievement, Khang said, he is close to reaching his dream. However, for Khang, there is still a long way ahead and his closest goal is to strive and try to achieve high results in the High School Graduation Exam.
Khang also wants to dedicate this gift to his parents, who are self-employed and did not have many opportunities to study in the past. Khang himself promises to constantly try to study, so as not to disappoint the trust of his parents and teachers, and that is the shortest path for him to be successful in the future./.
