Testing since 2014 in early grades
According to the latest draft of the General Education Reform Project (completed in January 2014), the project implementation is expected to be divided into two phases. Phase 1 will be piloted from 2014 to June 2016; Phase 2, the completion phase, will be implemented from July 2016 to 2022.
In the first phase, the Ministry of Education and Training will focus on completing the development of the overall curriculum and the curriculum of each subject; completing the compilation of experimental textbooks for subjects of the first grade (grades 1, 6 and 10); and issuing teacher training materials. In the final phase, the Ministry plans to complete the compilation of experimental textbooks for the remaining grades (including grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12), and at the same time issue and gradually deploy the new curriculum and textbooks according to actual conditions. According to the Ministry of Education and Training's plan, this deployment will not be organized simultaneously in all school localities. Only places with sufficient conditions will be allowed to deploy part or all of the new curriculum and textbooks.
